Shoppers at the 2008 home renovating and remodeling are hoping to do more than invest a little money in improvements. They're hoping to make investments that give them a good return on their money when the housing market and the economy turn around.

Many homeowners also had plans to sell but they are holding onto their houses and planning to remodel their house as they would lose bit of money in buyer’s market. So, as an alternate, they're spending their money on renovating, hoping to see a return with interest when the market turns around and they do sell their house. Vendors say some shoppers have been very careful and tentative to spend money. Others are expenditure big bucks on major developments like solar panels, which would cut costs along the way.
